Colibre Yoga Indepth Study and Mentor program

See who is nesting and who has earned their first wing and are preparing to earn their full pair of wings. (work in progress)

I am so proud and honored to be able to work with such amazing Yoga students and practitioners.  As I look out across the room at them each time we meet, they are truly a reflection of what this program is all about .  My hope is to be able to give you a glimpse into the wonderful Nest we are buidling thru our Colibre School of Yoga an Indepth study and Mentor program at Aledo Yoga and Nia.  Our program is divided into 2 parts.  The first section consists  of 10 wings, and the second section you choose an area you want to develop, focus on and share.  With the support of the nest, you will earn your full set of wings.  We are creating a community for Yoga students to grow and support each others growth as they take what I am able to share and move beyond it nto an area that is truly a calling for them.  We are encouraging each student to explore a specific area of focus that resonates with them and the nest will then encourage, give input and share as well as be open to what each other has to say.  We are a community of like minded people looking to explore and learn and share the wonderful life of Living your Yoga. Their are 8 limbs of yoga, the asanas being just one part, we explore and look at the the other 7 limbs of yoga as richly and deeply as the asana portion of the practice.
Your experience is unique to you and you are encouraged to explore the wisdom of your body and learn the asana portion in your daily practice on the mat and share your experience from a place of knowing thru what is true in your body.

Brittany Brock
Yoga for Mental Health : In the fall of 2008, Brittany Brock attended her first yoga class at the Aledo studio. She was immediately captivated. She began yoga for the physical benefits, but soon realized that it was much more than just an exercise. Brittany soon realized that she wanted to pursue her interest on a deeper level, so she enrolled in the Colibre School of Hatha Yoga. She will complete the program in April 2010, and is looking forward to teaching.
Brittany graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Psychology and Biology. She taught junior high science for 3 years, and is now working on her Master’s degree to become a school counselor. She is married, and is currently a substitute teacher in Aledo.

Jennifer McBryde : Jennifer started doing yoga in the late 1990's for low-back pain and continues to use yoga as a way to manage her pain. Over the years, she has attended classes and work-shops across the country with no particular style of yoga as her focus. She likes to incorporate aspects of various forms of yoga into her practice with the emphasis on using one's intuition to listen to the body and to respect its limits, but with the goal of realizing improved strength, flexibility, and body awareness over-time. She completed teacher training with the Colibre School for Yoga in 2009 and is a member of the Texas Yoga Alliance. She continues to attend work-shops with the goal of continually expanding her knowledge and her practice. In addition to her training in yoga, she works full-time as a physician assistant in neurosurgery at the VA hospital in Dallas.

Focus Prenatal Yoga : My first yoga class with my mother and aunt was in the mid-90’s in high school. I dabbled in it here and there, but once I got into college it became a more serious part of my life. In my early college years in Arizona I hit a point where yoga was the only thing that gounded me during crazy college days, it brought me back down to earth. Just the smell of the mat made me feel like I was home. It truly became a religion for me. I continued practicing in all schools of yoga throughout the years, and as life brought my family and I its series of serious challenges, yoga helped me to breathe through it all.

My husband, our 3 year old son and I just relocated to Ft Worth after being in Arizona for over 30 years. For the first time I am not a full time working mom, and I jumped at the chance to devote my energy and time to start my 200 RYT training. It felt like a natural progression. Relocating has had its challenges, and once again, yoga is saving me and keeping me on an even path, allowing me to be happy and strong for my husband and son. The Indepth Study at Aledo Yoga is an enlightening and precious way to delve deeper into the philosophies and practices of yoga.

We are expecting baby #2 this year, and yoga training is leading me into a pre-natal focus. I have a strong desire to create a sense of community through yoga for other pregnant women. I feel it is so important during pregnancy to have the support of other pregnant women around you. Plus, the advantages of having a yoga practice throughout a pregnancy is truly priceless in preparation and recovery.

Tamara Sagert
focus yoga for mental health : Tamara has been practicing yoga for over 7 years. She became an advocate of the practice in college when she used hatha yoga to rehabilitate from an injury. She has also learned that yoga has extraordinary benefits mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Yoga has helped her stay centered through challenging times in her life, helps her make better decisions, and helps her maintain a healthy body and mind. She decided to become a teacher to share her love of yoga, and assist others on their path to wellness. Tamara is also a social worker, doing individual therapy with older adults in long-term care facilities. She would like to learn more about how yoga can help those coping with stress, anxiety and depression, and other mental health challenges.
